Providing a visiting service which, where possible, matches age, gender and level of amputation with the person being visited. For new amputees this can be a motivating experience seeing someone in a similar situation who is fit healthy and in many cases working full time.
Providing education sessions for Health Professionals particularly Physiotherapists and Social Workers to assist them to support amputees to realise their full potential.
Advocating on behalf of amputees to ensure that their voice is heard at the highest level of service provision. The Amputees Federation has an amputee representative on the Artificial Limb Board which provides prosthetic services throughout NZ.
