MENTAL HEALTH & ADDICTIONS SERVICE

Earth Gardens was established in 1985 to provide a flexible, supportive and therapeutic working environment for people living with mental illness or disability.

Earth Gardens provides a safe and health work skills training environment for people, aged 16 - 65 years, living with a disability, and provides opportunities to:

  • Build self-esteem
  • Increase self-confidence
  • Develop motivation
  • Develop daily structure and routines
  • Achieve work related skills and goals

This is achieved through tailored programmes which develop food technology skills, work ethics, employment skills, educational opportunities, recreation/leisure skills and social skills.

Earth Gardens also provides the opportunity to transition into further education, participate in the community, carry out temporary voluntary work experience, refresh old skills and develop new ones plus network with supportive employment agencies.

Situated on five acres in a peaceful setting, clients of Earth Gardens can gain skills in the areas of Lifeskills, Gardening, Basic Maintenance and Hospitality.

Earth Gardens empowers people living with mental illness or a disability to maximise their recovery and life opportunities, thus easing the transition back into the community.
