iSign enables access and participation for Deaf people by providing professional and confidential New Zealand Sign Language (NZSL) interpreting services. It is a nationwide service enabling effective communication between Deaf and hearing people.
iSign matches job requests with available and appropriate interpreters throughout New Zealand. They contract more than 80 qualified interpreters, all members of their professional body, ensuring a confidential and professional service.
Funding is available to cover a wide range of interpreting service jobs. iSign staff can advise on available funding sources. Funding information is also available on the ‘How it Works/Who Pays?’ page of the iSign website.
If you feel your requests for interpreting services are not being listened to, or if you're unsure of your right to interpreting services, please contact iSign. They can advocate for Deaf People's rights to interpreting services and explain to professionals their obligations.
For interpretation outside of opening hours, they operate an emergency service through our call centre. Our call centre will arrange interpreters for emergencies. Other requests will be processed the next business day by our office staff.
