Our Values

The values of Youth Inspire guide everything we do. They shape how we work with rangatahi, support our community, and build meaningful relationships with the people around us.

These values help create a safe, supportive environment where rangatahi can grow, build confidence, and realise their potential.

Whakaute / Respect

Respect sits at the heart of everything we do at Youth Inspire. It’s about recognising and honoring the uniqueness of each individual, embracing diversity, and valuing every voice that contributes to our hapori/community. We believe in creating a safe and inclusive space where everyone feels accepted and respected. By upholding mutual respect, understanding differences, and promoting positive interactions, we build strong relationships based on empathy and honesty. We provide a culture powered by respect, inclusivity, patience, and pride as we work together to create an inspiring future for all.

Ngākau Rorotu / Positivity

We cherish the transformative power of positivity in every aspect of our mahi. Optimism, hope, and confidence are not just mindsets but cornerstones of our success. By nurturing a culture that uplifts and inspires through positive language and actions, we provide an environment where mental well-being thrives. With open minds and welcoming body language, we see challenges as stepping stones to growth. Our dedication to adopting constructive interactions ensures that we consistently prioritise integrity while radiating positive vibes throughout our organisation.

Pono / Integrity

Integrity means doing the right thing, even when no one is watching.

At Youth Inspire we hold ourselves accountable for our actions and lead with honesty and transparency. By being reliable, trustworthy, and honest, we create a culture of authenticity, trust and connection. We respect differences, lead by example, and strive for transparency in all interactions.

Kia Māia / Be Brave

We encourage rangatahi to step outside their comfort zones and try new things. By celebrating wins and providing support, we help nurture skills to overcome challenges. Together, we are building a future where bright and brave rangatahi lead positive change. Through empowerment, encouragement, and belief in their potential, we shape both rangatahi and ourselves as a community committed to teaching resilience and leadership.

Whakawhirinaki / Reliability

Reliability is about showing up, being consistent, and supporting each other. At Youth Inspire we incorporate trustworthiness and consistency in all our mahi. By ensuring trust within our team through daily practice, we set a standard for ourselves. Our dedication to strong relationships, active listening, and effective communication showcases our ability to succeed in all we turn up to do.

Employment Support

Youth Inspire’s Employability Programmes support rangatahi aged 15 - 24 to build the skills, confidence, and experience needed to get a job - and keep a job.

Our Employability Programme is tailored to the needs of our rangatahi today, and includes practical learning activities that focus on the key skills employers say they value most in young workers.

Our programmes run Monday - Thursday, four days per week, and provide a supportive environment where rangatahi can grow, gain experience, and prepare for employment.

About the Campaign

At Youth Inspire, we are facing a serious funding shortfall. Over the past year, we have been denied more than $600,000 in public sector funding, which we rely on to operate. As a result, we are looking for your support through donations and philanthropy to keep our services running.

Our pay-it-forward campaign invites supporters to donate $100 - enough to cover the cost of a learner licence test and help a young person take a crucial step toward employment and independence. We have already supported over 1,500 rangatahi to get their licence, and with over 240 rangatahi currently on our waitlist, the demand for accessible driver training continues to grow.

For many rangatahi, gaining a driver licence can open the door to education, employment, and greater opportunities in life. Every donation helps provide professional driving lessons, access to a vehicle, and free licence testing, giving young people the skills, confidence, and support they need to get ahead.
