Astech was originally founded by Lorraine Grundy and Lynda Strathdee in 2007. Lorraine and Lynda brought with them many years’ experience providing occupational therapy and speech-language therapy.

Astech are proud of the diverse range of experienced specialist therapists that they are able to offer from a wide range of disciplines. These therapists are committed to closely collaborating when working with their clients as this has been found to be most effective with people who have complex needs.

Their team of 23 includes occupational therapists, speech-language therapists, physiotherapists, psychologists, neuro-developmental therapists, vestibular therapists, dieticians, continence nurses, social workers and rehabilitation coaches.

Astech has premises in Christchurch, and though they focus on providing services to the wider Canterbury region, the team is often asked to travel throughout the South Island of New Zealand. Services are provided in clients’ homes, schools, or in the community; whichever environment best suits the needs of the individual and their family. They have provided services throughout Canterbury and Westland, with clients from Invercargill to Nelson.

As well as providing general therapy services, their team includes specialists with many years of experience in the use of assistive technology.
