Choice in Community Living is an alternative to residential services for people with significant disabilities. It offers more choice and control over where they live, who they live with and how they are supported.
Choice in Community Living is part of the New Model for Supporting Disabled People demonstration. It is available in Auckland, Waikato, the Hutt, Otago and Southland regions.
Choice in Community Living is for people living in these regions who either:
People must be eligible for disability support services funded by the Ministry of Health before they can access Choice in Community Living.
The local Needs Assessment Service Coordination (NASC) organisations listed below have experienced staff who can help people and families decide whether Choice in Community Living would be a good option for them, as an alternative to residential services. They can provide advice on what funding is available to achieve this.
