COMPASS Wairau operates a seven-day-a-week, Intentional Peer Support mental health and addiction service. The service provides a welcoming, safe and supportive space for tāngata whaiora to connect, learn and be supported in their wellbeing journeys.
COMPASS Wairau offers a range of peer-led activities and supports, including:
Social and recreational activities such as arts, music, gardening and light exercise
Skill-building sessions focused on everyday wellbeing including nutrition, cooking, budgeting and practical life skills
Peer-led workshops that support wellbeing and personal empowerment
Groups delivered in partnership with community organisations, such as budgeting advice, nutrition education, government agency information and cultural activities.
Provide independent peer advocacy support to tāngata whaiora enabling them to confidently navigate health and social services, understand their rights and improve mental wellbeing and connectedness.
COMPASS Wairau is open to any adult tāngata whaiora in the Wairau Blenheim community who would benefit from peer support, connection or wellbeing activities.
No referral is required – people are welcome to drop in during opening hours. Whānau, support workers and partner agencies may also contact the service to help connect tāngata whaiora to the supports that best meet their needs.
