Kai Puku is a food rescue service and member of the Aotearoa Food Rescue Alliance Network. They aim to increase local food access, taking surplus, fit-to-eat, healthy, fresh and ambient food and redistributing it from their hub to charitable organisations that give it to those in need.

Food Banks, Community Open Houses, Free Community Meals, Senior Citizen Groups, Family Services, Whānau Ora Navigators, and Social Service Workers are involved in passing on the free kai.

If you are in need, please reach out to your local food bank, including but not limited to, the following organisations:

  • WestREAP
  • BullerREAP
  • Runanga Food Pantry
  • 'Take what you need' boxes at community hubs
  • Heartland
  • PACT
  • Ministry of Social Development
