North Shore Women's Centre

The North Shore Women’s Centre is the Shore’s only Centre run by women for women.

North Shore Women's Centre provides essential support services for women. These services include a free legal clinic, counselling, social work, assessment and information and referral.

COUNSELLING

Counselling is available with their highly experienced qualified female counsellors here at the Centre. 6 subsidised counselling sessions are available to women with (or regularly care for) children aged 17 or under.

Costs are based on a sliding scale - call the Centre for further information. Maximum 6 sessions apply.

FAMILY SUPPORT/SOCIAL WORK SERVICE

They believe empowering women has positive outcomes for women, men and children. If you are seeking support, contact the Centre to arrange to meet up with their qualified social worker.

Not sure what service you require and need to talk to one of our Community Resource Workers? Just give them a call to organise an appointment. They'll listen and let you know how they might be able to assist or connect you with appropriate services.

Legal Advice

FREE Legal Clinic (for women who do not have a lawyer)

North Shore Women's Centre's Legal clinic is held every Tuesday and Wednesday morning between 10am and 12pm. On these days, a 30-minute appointment can be booked with experienced lawyers who volunteer their time at the Centre.

Health & Wellbeing

Regular cervical smears are your best protection against cervical cancer. You may be eligible for a free smear.

Breastscreening

Breast cancer is the most common cancer in New Zealand women. Over 600 women die from it each year and as we get older, our risks increase. New Zealand's free national breast screening programme checks women aged between 45 and 69 for signs of early breast cancer.
