One in Six | 1 in 6 is a collaborative initiative between the New Zealand Disability Employers’ Network (NZDEN) and Whaikaha – Ministry of Disabled People.
Working together, we aim to support New Zealand employers to build inclusive workplaces and confidently hire and support disabled people.
We are committed to supporting employers across Aotearoa New Zealand to create more inclusive and accessible workplaces for the 1 in 6 disabled New Zealanders. This partnership brings together expertise, shared values, and a vision for a workforce where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
The initiative was established to provide on-going support, practical guidance, and resources for human resource teams, hiring managers, recruitment professionals, people leaders, and business owners. Our goal is to help organizations grow their confidence in hiring and supporting disabled people, ensuring every workplace can benefit from diverse talents and perspectives.
One in Six is designed to evolve and expand, reflecting ongoing feedback from the community and changes in best practice. We are committed to regularly reviewing and updating our guidance, ensuring that the information and tools provided remain relevant and effective. By working together, we aim to build a more inclusive New Zealand - one workplace at a time.
