IHC advocates for the rights, inclusion and welfare of all people with intellectual disabilities. It supports them to live satisfying lives in the community.

IHC provides advocacy, volunteering, events, membership associations and fundraising. For example:

  • The IHC Advocacy Team works for long-term social change to make sure people with intellectual disabilities have a fair shot at a good life in New Zealand.
  • The IHC Art Awards provides artists with an intellectual disability the opportunity to have their talent recognised, their voices heard and to sell their work.
  • IHC Live! is an online channel streaming free interactive music, dance and drama sessions straight into your home.
  • The IHC Library is free to use and open to anyone living in New Zealand. They have information on all aspects of intellectual disability, autism and other developmental disabilities, with resources built up over many years.
