Community Law provide initial legal advice at drop-in sessions and community outreach clinics. If you require ongoing legal assistance with your legal issue they will help you find an appropriate lawyer. They sometimes provide free ongoing assistance to people on a case-by-case basis, depending on their needs and Community Law's capacity.
They run specialised drop-in sessions and it is best to attend one that matches your legal issue- you can view the timetable on their website. However, they will do their best to advise you at any session you choose to attend. Areas of the law they can advise on include employment and tenancy law. They also provide legal education to help people understand their rights.
Māori clients are able to access Pou Whirinaki, their Services to Māori team. This is a community legal service for Māori, by Māori. They see legal needs as affecting the social, spiritual, and cultural wellbeing of communities, whānau, hapū, and iwi, and so strive to provide solutions to problems that embody tikanga Māori values and practises.
